How to create your perfect hosting plan: To begin with you must decide how much space and data transfer you will require. As a rough guide allow 50 Kbytes for text pages and 100 Kbytes for graphically rich pages. So a 10 page site with many pictures might take up 1000 Kbytes (or 1 Mbyte). Some factors can greatly affect these figures; whether you have a database, how your images were created etc - please contact us if you're not sure. Data transfer is a measure of how many visitors you can have in a month and depends on the size of your web pages. To download a 50 Kbyte page takes 50 Kbytes of data transfer, so 100 visitors a day will use 5 Mbytes of data transfer. Multiple this by 30 to get a monthly figure of 150 Mbytes. Again these figures are very approximate as proxy/browser caching and other factors can have a great affect.
Other requirements: If you do not already have a domain name you will need to buy one. UK domain names (co.uk) are cheaper at half the price, but .com names are more popular. Please see the domain names page for more details. Most people want to have an email account with their website and you can add as many as you think you'll need from this page.
